units comes with: bedding; towels (face cloth, hand towel, bath
towel per person - bring you own beach towels); (upstairs unit-all
kitchen utensils, pots and pans, dishes); high chair and pac'play
crib; puzzels; games; books; telephone.

Q - How much is the deposit?
A - 1/2 of the total.
Q - Are there any hidden costs or taxes,
etc.?
A - No.
Q - How far is it to MT. Snow?
A - 25 minutes.
Q - How far is it to Stratton?
A - 40 minutes.
Q - How far is it to Brattleboro?
A - 10 minutes.
Q - How far is it from NYC to the farm?
A - 210 miles.
Q - How far is it from Boston to the
farm?
A - 134 miles
Q - Is there cell phone service?
A - Some services, like Unicel, AT&T, and Nextel, work great.
Others, like Verizon, are spotty here at the farm but great in
Brattleboro center.
Q - Is there internet service?
A - We have a NetGear router that sends a faint signal to the
rental space. It is adequate for simple internet access such
as checking weather.com, but not very good for youtube.com.
Q - Is there a TV?
A - No
Q - Are sheets, blankets, towels, soap,
etc. provided?
A - Yes, we provide sheets, blankets, towels, soap, etc. Bring
your own beach towels for swimming in the river.
Q - Are there pots, pans, plates, bowls,
silverware, mugs, glasses, etc?
A - Yes, we provide pots, pans, plates, bowls, silverware, mugs,
and glasses.
Q - Is there are a coffee maker?
A - Yes. There is a coffee maker.
Q - Are there burners?
A - There are 2 sets of hot plates (total of 4 burners) in the
2nd floor space.
Q - Is there a toaster oven?
A - Yes
Q - Is there a fridge?
A - Yes
Q - Is there an alarm clock?
A - There is an alarm/radio clock.
Q - Are dogs allowed?
A - Dogs are OK if they do not chase or harass the various farm
animals including chickens and cats. If you are uncertain, we
ask you to keep the dog on a leash. Also, they must be house-broken.
Finally, we are maintaining a shoe-free space and a part of this
guideline includes cleaning off the dog (and the dog's paws with
a towel that you provide) each and every time it comes inside.
The land is great for walking dogs.
Q - Is the space smoke-free?
A - Yes, all indoor spaces are smoke-free including entrance
ways.
Q - Is it clean?
A - We take real pride in providing a clean space for our guests.
Q - Do you use environmentally friendly
and people friendly cleaning supplies?
A - Yes, we use eco/health-friendly cleaning supplies for laundry,
kitchen, windows, and general cleaning. We also provide pure
castile soap in the bathrooms and eco-friendly dish soap in the
kitchenette.
Q - Is the space fragrance free? Do you
use 'free & clear' cleaning supplies?
A - We are committed to not burning scented candles or incense.
We are making the transition to 'free & clear' cleaning supplies.
Q - Is it a private setting?
A - The building is set back from the main farm house and the
road.
Q - Are there private entrances?
A - A lobby that accesses the apartment.
Q - Can we have campfires?
A - In order to have a campfire, the fire warden must be called.
Often, the permit is granted based on weather conditions.
Q - Are guests expected to do farm chores?
A - We do not expect guests to do farm chores. If guests wish
to participate in farm activities we will happily instruct you
how to go about collecting eggs or harvesting vegetables, etc.
Q - When is the hot tub and outdoor shower
available?
A - June through October. No
children 16 years or younger are allowed to use the hot tub without
adult supervision.
Q - When is the peak time for fall foliage?
A - The first three weeks in October.
Q - When is the peak time for winter activities?
A - December through March.
Q - When is the best time for swimming?
A - July and August with heartier folks enjoying June and September.
Q - When is the best time for kayaking
on the Rock River?
A - April and May.
Q - When is the best time for biking?
A - June through October?
Q - When is the peak time for amphibian
crossings to vernal pools?
A - For 2 weeks in mid-April.
Q - When is the peak time for farm related
activities?
A - We do greenhouse work in March and April, direct planting
in May, and peak harvest in August and September.
Q - Are there biting insects?
A - Very few due to the winds, coolness of the river valley and
healthy bird and bat populations.
Seasonal Activities
Summer - Fabulous swimming holes, glorious sunny walks, unbelievable
starry nights, access to fun hikes and bike rides, the farm is
in full swing.
Fall - harvest time offers tons of fresh
fruits and vegetables and unbeatable fall foliage.
Winter - an absolute winter wonderland,
snowshoeing, X-country skiing, sledding, striking distance to
2 great ski resorts: Mt. Snow (25 minutes) and Stratton mountain
(40 minutes); hot chocolate and hot saunas.
Spring - magical migration of wood frogs
and yellow-spotted salamanders, the land comes alive, seedlings
are sprouting, rivers are raging for experienced kayakers and
courageous tubers.
